My piece from the graffiti life advent show opening tonight.
I was thinking about the concept of the holographic principle and I wanted to use it in a piece. The foreground melting away from the construct of the grid is a reference to this and other ideas about perception. The piece is titled “A thin sheet of reality”, which is also the title of a discussion I watched on the subject and it fit the work well.
The piece is 420mm x 600mm and is matt spray paint on 6mm MDF.
Available to buy from The Graffiti Life Gallery
I went to the opening of this years Lazarides off site project last night.. If you can make it down I recommend it. Its amazing. The space is a subterranean labyrinth in a derelict brutalist office building. I really love the work by Lucy Mclauchlan, Cleon Peterson, Ben Woodeson and Pose and even got to see a couple of Revok pieces in the green room. None of my photos do it justice, so heres the flyer. Go see it.

A recent commission of my geometric work over in Worcester, thanks to EC ARTS The hoarding was already dark grey with rectangles of colour, I painted the turquoise in emulsion and spray painted the more abstract parts. I left sections of the original paint work coming through to give a sense of history of the space and the layered messy graffiti/fades are painted as if they could be behind the original layer. Its all to give a sense of depth and to bring in ideas of graffiti and the buff.

My mates starting this creating comics course at the Mac in Moseley/Balsall Heath.
“It begins on September 20th and runs for 12 weeks. Each session is 2 hours from 7.30 to 9.30.
Its a collaborative workshop where participants get to team up with other creators and produce a short comic story. These stories will be anthologised and published. The workshops will be a mix of technical theory and practical exercises- should be a blast!”

A piece from early 2012, it’s 55 x 70 cm and was based on a photograph of light refraction through stained glass. Haven’t had nearly enough time in the studio this year, need to be making more pieces like this.
